Tip 1 - Use a mascara primer Mascara primers are the secret weapon of professional makeup artists. If you try any tip, try this one. Primers coat lashes and separate them before mascara is applied. They also hold your mascara on your lashes where it belongs. As it takes time (10 seconds!), why not try it for a special occasion? Tip 2 – Get the illusion of longer lashes It’s not the mascara applied to the tips that gives the illusion of length, it’s the mascara applied to the roots. Tip 3 - Thin, short brushes are best Thin brushes give you accuracy and enable you to reach into the corner of the eyelash. Short brushes give you more control over where you are applying your mascara. Tip 4 – A different technique for a different look Only applying mascara to the upper lashes can give a more striking effect. To make eyes appear wider, apply to the bottom lashes, too. To give you confidence to coat the bottom lashes, try putting a tissue under them before application. Tip 5 – Zero smudge mascara Mascara will stick and smudge to any oily surface. Make sure your skin is dry before you apply your mascara. Use powder to add protection over oily skin. Tip 6 – Use colour mascara Black is the easy and failsafe option for everyone and far outsells all other colours put together. But, if you’re blonde, black can be too striking during the day so use brown by day and reserve black for night. Blue mascara brings out blue eyes and purple mascara will deepen brown eyes. Tip 7 - Wiggle the wand Wiggling the wand from side to side during application helps cut down clumps. Tip 8 - Do not pump the wand in and out of the tube All this will do is dry out your mascara is air is forced in and out of the tube. Tip 9 – A final coat to the lashes Try blinking onto the brush to get a final and clean coat of mascara. Tip 10 - Wait a few seconds before blinking You don't want to paint your lids, do you? |
